The department aims at the diagnosis & treatment of dental caries and its sequel, teeth malformations and discolorations, thereby restoring the teeth to full function in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Increasing the life span of teeth by prevention and restoration” is the main motto of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics and effectively deliver quality dental treatment to needy patients.
The department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, which is the backbone of dentistry, provides all types of restorative and aesthetic dental treatment procedures for patients (for retaining their teeth), including amalgam fillings, composite restorations, glass ionomer restorations, root canal treatment etc. There are 3 post graduate admissions per year which offers comprehensive and specialty-oriented treatment as well as research activities. Out-patient treatment facilities are provided for an average of 200 patients per day. Specialty treatment includes full mouth rehabilitation, veneers, splinting, bleaching, retreatment and surgical endodontics (apicoectomy), post endodontic restorations, corrective surgeries like hemisection, root resection, reattachment, reimplantation, endo implants etc.
The clinic functions on all working days. Undergraduate and Post graduate clinic is fully equipped with modern electrically operated dental chair systems, light curing equipment for aesthetic restorations Dental operating microscope, magnification loupes, latest irrigation systems like Endovac, Digital radiovisiography, thermoplasticised obturation systems for three dimensional root canal filling, rotary endodontics for fast and efficient Root canal treatment including single visit endodontics. Preclinical section is equipped for simulated exercises with phantom head units for training BDS and MDS students.
The Department is endowed with a dedicated and experienced faculty, all of whom are committed to excellence in education, patient care, scholarly activity, and research. Special emphasis is also laid on attending, participating and conducting continuing professional development programs to enhance and enrich professional knowledge.
